POWER OF THE RUNES

2-DAY COURSE ON working with the runes

The meaning of the word “Rune" is shrouded in mystery and has many possible translations. One of its possible meanings is "secret". Many people believe the rune symbols had, and still have, a religious or magical significance. 

We will explore how we can harness the power of the runes ourselves, and delve into runes as magical tools for use in, for example, healing or spells.

Proto-Norse is the language used in Scandinavia from the years 200-700 AD. It is the oldest known language in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. What do we actually know about the runes?

In this workshop, we will work with the 24 runes from the Elder Futhark, sometimes also called the Proto-Norse runes. We will examine the history of the runes and the sources we have, including the rune poems. 

During the day, everyone will have the opportunity to create their own magical bind-rune or runic inscription. To find our intention, the power symbolised by the bind-rune, we will use, among other things, drum journeys. 

The course is taught by Inger Johanne Syverud from Ing.borg, who has worked with runes for over 20 years. No prior knowledge is required to participate, however familiarity with the form and phonetic value of the runes is an advantage. Some shamanic experience is also beneficial, but not a requirement.

During this workshop you will get to craft your bind-rune in mouldable silver. The crafting of your bind-rune in silver becomes a ritual act, in which you imbue the symbol with your intention. Together we charge them, during a ceremony.

This includes all necessary materials and use of our tools, plus 5 grams of mouldable silver.
It also includes meals, with a vegan option available (breakfast, lunch, dinner, as well as snacks, coffee and tea).
Sleeping accommodations are excluded from the price, if you wish to sleep over, please write us.
Deposit: Please note there’s a limited number of places. Your spot is secured by a deposit of DKK 600. The deposit is non-refundable.
