SEID, SONG & THE POWER OF VOICES
This workshop is an introduction to Seid. Through sources, theories, different experiences and practices we will gain a greater understanding of how seid can be used as a spiritual tool. Seid is a practice in northern magic that has a clear resemblance to shamanism. It can be used to work with the lifelines, achieve visions, healing, and divine insights. Seid is performed intuitively through song that sends the seer into trance.
EVENT IS FULLY BOOKED
In Norse mythology there were Norns who spun the thread of life, not just for humans, but also for the gods. The life wire was something that was spun: a lace or rope that one could send on the way and one that could be manipulated. There are theories that Seid seems to be the act of spinning, sending, attracting and manipulating this spirit line.
We will be focusing on different techniques and forms that can be used to exert Seid. There are two main types of seid: force and divination. These two can be further divided into two subgroups, «eneseid» and group-seid. The «eneseid» is performed alone while group-seid is performed by 1-3 people on behalf of all participants. In the course of the weekend we will try both.
We will also explore fearless, loud singing, where you project your thoughts out for a given purpose.
You will achieve a broader understanding of how to use the seid in modern times and to develop your own skills more easily.
The workshop will be led by Lindy-Fay Hella and Inger Johanne Tromborg Syverud.
Lindy-Fay is well known singer who is an integral part of the music group Wardruna and collaborates regularly with other artists. She will among other things share her experience of how to use one’s voice and singing as a source of inner power.
Inger and her husband Magnus run Ing.Borg. She has long standing experience with Nordic shamanism, including seid, galdrs and runes and will lead the trance and seid ceremonies.
No prior experience is required to participate, however, Shamanic experience is an advantage.
